In the heart of Washington, D.C., where the vibrant energy of the city meets the harsh realities of poverty and homelessness, there is a beacon of hope for young people who have lost their way: Noah 5th Street.

Noah 5th Street is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 by Elizabeth Reyes, a woman whose own life journey led her to dedicate her work to helping others find their path.

Elizabeth Reyes, Co Founder And Executive Director Of Noah 5th Street Noah (5th Street 1) Elizabeth Reyes

A Life of Challenges and Triumphs

Elizabeth's childhood was marked by instability and adversity. She grew up in a low-income family in Silver Spring, Maryland, and witnessed firsthand the struggles of those around her.

At the age of 16, Elizabeth found herself pregnant and dropped out of high school. Determined to create a better life for herself and her child, she worked multiple jobs and eventually earned her GED.

But Elizabeth's journey was far from over. In 2003, she lost her youngest child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Devastated by grief, she turned to drugs and alcohol in an attempt to numb the pain.

Finding a Purpose

Elizabeth's life took a dramatic turn in 2005 when she met Father John Enzler, a Catholic priest who worked with homeless youth in Washington, D.C.

Inspired by Father Enzler's compassion and dedication, Elizabeth decided to volunteer at his soup kitchen. It was there that she met countless young people who had fallen through the cracks of society.

Witnessing their struggles firsthand, Elizabeth realized that she wanted to do more to help them. In 2007, she co-founded Noah 5th Street with the mission of providing homeless youth with safe shelter, support services, and educational opportunities.

Noah 5th Street: A Home for the Homeless

Noah 5th Street began in a small apartment with just six beds. Today, it has grown into a thriving organization that operates two shelters, a drop-in center, and a transitional housing program.

The organization's comprehensive services include case management, counseling, job training, and substance abuse treatment. Noah 5th Street also partners with local schools and businesses to provide educational and employment opportunities for its clients.

Elizabeth Reyes: A Force for Good

Elizabeth Reyes is the driving force behind Noah 5th Street's success. Her unwavering commitment to helping homeless youth is evident in everything she does.

Elizabeth has been recognized for her tireless work with numerous awards, including the Jefferson Award for Public Service and the Everyday Hero Award from CNN.

But for Elizabeth, the greatest reward is seeing the young people who come to Noah 5th Street rebuild their lives. She believes that everyone deserves a second chance, and she is dedicated to providing that opportunity to those who need it most.

Elizabeth Reyes' story is an inspiration to us all. It is a story of hope, resilience, and the power of one person to make a difference in the world.

Noah 5th Street is a testament to Elizabeth's dedication and the transformative impact that can be made when we come together to help those who are less fortunate.

As we continue to face the challenges of homelessness and poverty, let us be inspired by Elizabeth Reyes and Noah 5th Street. Let us all strive to be a beacon of hope for those who have lost their way and a force for good in our communities.
