A Vibrant City with a Rich History and Culture

Caracas is the capital and largest city of Venezuela. It is located in the northern part of the country, in the Caracas Valley. The city has a population of over 3 million people and is the cultural, economic, and political center of Venezuela.

Caracas was founded in 1567 by Spanish conquistadors. The city was named after the indigenous people who lived in the area, the Caracas. Caracas was a major center of the Spanish Empire in South America. The city was the capital of the Captaincy General of Venezuela from 1777 to 1821. In 1821, Caracas became the capital of the Republic of Gran Colombia. Gran Colombia was a union of Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador. In 1830, Venezuela seceded from Gran Colombia and Caracas became the capital of the independent Republic of Venezuela.
