Early Years and Aviation Beginnings

John Malcolm "Jack" Malloch was born in 1928 in Falkirk, Scotland. As a young boy, he developed a fascination with flying, spending countless hours gazing at the sky and reading aviation magazines. At the age of 17, he joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a pilot trainee and quickly demonstrated his exceptional flying skills.

Post-War Accomplishments

After the end of World War II, Malloch transitioned to civilian aviation and began his legendary career as an airshow pilot. He joined the famed Red Devils aerobatics team and quickly became one of their star performers. In 1951, he set a world speed record for piston-engine aircraft, flying a Meteore 8 jet trainer at a speed of 615.76 mph.

Transatlantic Solo Flight

In 1954, Malloch embarked on a daring solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Flying a Percival Vega Gull, he covered a distance of 2,500 miles from Prestwick, Scotland, to New York City in just over 12 hours. This remarkable feat cemented his reputation as one of the most skilled and fearless pilots of his time.

Airshow Legend

Malloch continued to perform at airshows throughout the 1950s and 1960s, captivating audiences with his mesmerizing aerobatics and gravity-defying stunts. He became known for his signature "Malloch Roll," a complex maneuver that involved a rapid series of consecutive rolls and loops. His performances were unforgettable spectacles, leaving spectators spellbound and yearning for more.

Later Years and Legacy

In his later years, Malloch retired from airshows but remained actively involved in aviation. He served as a flight instructor, passing on his knowledge and skills to future generations of pilots.
