Swords & sorcery is a subgenre of fantasy that is characterized by its focus on action, adventure, and violence. The stories are often set in a medieval or pre-industrial world, and they typically feature a hero who must overcome great odds to defeat an evil villain. Swords & sorcery stories are often full of magic, monsters, and mayhem, but they also often explore deeper themes such as good versus evil, the nature of heroism, and the human condition.
Swords Xist Publishing was founded in 2003 by editor and publisher John O'Neill. O'Neill is a lifelong fan of sword & sorcery fiction, and he founded Swords Xist Publishing with the goal of publishing the best new works in the genre. Since its founding, Swords Xist Publishing has published a wide range of sword & sorcery novels, anthologies, and collections. Our authors include some of the biggest names in the genre, such as Michael Moorcock, Karl Edward Wagner, and C.L. Moore.
